Why PS3 is still my favorite: But Wait There’s More!

Well here it is! We brave few who stuck with Sony have again been rewarded for our efforts. I found this online a few days ago and have been trying it out. What is it you ask? It’s called play on, and it brings some great content to your PS3. With this piece of software running silently on your PC you can access Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and more right from your PS3′s XMB. Let’s start with the pros. Like Netflix on Xbox live it lets access you instant queue, it also lets you access all the other instant watch movies Netflix has to offer. Not just a select few like Xbox live. And for only $40 dollars (one time) it’s cheaper too (compared to $50 annually for live membership). In fact even the PS3 itself is cheaper now with the new PS3 slim w/120GB HDD at $299. The Xbox elite is still $399! I’ve tried to avoid it, because I hate labels, but I really am a Sony fan boy and probably will be for a long time to come! Now I have absolutely no use for the 360. So if by some chance you still don’t have either of these systems, look at everything carefully. And just for kicks I’ll break it down for you here.

PS3 slim w/120GB HDD $299;                        Xbox 360 Elite w/120GB HDD $399

Wireless Network adapter: Included;           $100

Online Account:                      Free;                     $50 (a year)

Blu-Ray Player:                       Included;            $130 (@Wal-Mart)

Netflix:                                        $40;                      Free with online account

Wireless Headset:             $20 (@Wal-Mart); $60

Total Price                                 $359;                    $739

How much can you afford?

Why PS3 is still my favorite.

That’s right I love my PS3. First a little background so you know how I ended up here. I started with the NES somewhere around ’88 or ’89. Since then t’ve had the Genesis, Super NES, N64, PS1 (PSX), Gamecube, PS2, and XBox. Which brings us to now. I currently have the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Despite that I still consider myself a casual gamer. Now don’t get me wrong I enjoy gaming on the 360 and the Wii so this isn’t going to be a bash session. I just want to point out why I think the PS3 stands out and ranks higher in my book.

Lets start with backwards compatibility. If your like me you got your PS3 when they still included this feature and while this was removed later it was not forgotten by Sony. They are currently developing a software patch that will include an emulator so all PS3′s will be able to play PS1 and PS2 titles. So you can play all the classics you already own without having to purchase them again in the form of down loadable content (DLC). Not to mention the more obscure titles that are just as fun but will probably never be released as DLC. Now lets talk about games since we’re on the subject. I know the first thing “everyone” says is “360 has better titles” or “360 has more titles”. Well think about this, if the 360 didn’t exist would you rather see “HALO” and “Gears of War” on the Wii or the PS3? Seriously. I feel that if we’re going to judge this “title contest” fairly we need to look at the whole picture. So if we take backwards compatibility into account then the score is approximately, PS3 10,000,  Xbox 360 1,500. And these numbers don’t include the LIVE Arcade or Sony network games.

Next lets talk about the price. Like the saying goes “you get what you pay for”. With that in mind lets take a look at what we get. With the 360 we get a solid gaming console but that’s all! Everything else is extra. You have to pay for a subscription for on-line gaming and you have buy an external adapter for wifi. Not to mention the limited HDD selection. With the PS3 we also get a solid gaming console but that’s not all! It comes with  built in wifi and on-line gaming is free. It also has a built in blu-ray disc player and if your willing to look there are a wide variety of HDD options available. Now if that isn’t enough all PS3 games and about 70% of blu-ray movies are region free! Hello imports!

So this is why PS3 is my personal favorite. Feel free to comment and let me know if you agree or not. And remember as long as your having fun and enjoy the game it doesn’t matter what system it’s on. That’s why I have all three.

G-Body Grand Prix’s

I just thought i would give you guy’s a peek at what i’ve been doing in my spare time. The one on the left is an ’83 and the one on the right is an ’86. The’re both getting new Pontiac big blocks. But while the ’83 is going to be more of a street strip car the ’86 will be a cruiser. For more pics of the ’83 check here and for the ’86 check here. Feel free to comment.

Ferrari 458 Italia

Wow! This looks to be an amazing automobile. Once again Ferrari creates a mobile work of art.  Plus the 0-60 tome of less than 4 seconds doesn’t look to bad either! With a 4.7l 570hp V8 you’d better not have a phobia of gas pumps. For the rest of us Ferrari is rumored to be developing an all-wheel drive hybrid version sometime in the future. Check it out for yourself and tell me what you think.

Top 5 tips for better gas milage and a smooth running vehicle.

Here are my top 5 tips  that will not only keep your car running well but may increase your gas milage as well.

5. Tire pressure. Propper tire pressure is far more important than most people think. Not only can it create a rough ride but it can also reduse your gas miliage.

4. Filters. Both the air and fuel filter need to be changed regularly to keep your gas milage down. also if either gets clogged up too much it can cause performance issues.

3. Alignment. Inproper alignment can have many effects on your vehicles performance from uneven tire wear to bad gas milage.

2. Clean oil. Keeping up with regular oil changes can keep your engines internal parts moving free and clean. The reduced friction reduces the stain on your engine and reduces fuel consumtion.

1. Spark plugs & wires. Having bad plugs and wires will cause the fuel mixture in your engine to either not burn completely or not burn at all. This leaves the fuel you just paid all that money for pouring out your tailpipe. This will also cause performance problems such as stuttering and stalling.

Keep your car running smooth and you’ll spend more time on the road and less time at the gas pumps. I hope you found this helpful. And remeber to drive safe!
